Regulations for the District Ranking Tournament – 2023

  • The following are the regulations for the conduct of the District Ranking Tournament during the year 2023-2024.
  1. The tournaments will be allotted to the different District Clubs, Institutions and Academies by the TTAA.
  2. The venue, dates and option to conduct these tournaments shall be announced by the TTAA, through Circulars and Press announcements.
  3. The Ranking Tournaments are “Prestigious” events of the District Association and the host and the players are required to treat them as such.
  4. Affiliated Clubs, Institutions and Academies who are given the option to conduct the Ranking Tournaments are required to pay a tournament fee of Rs. 25000/- to the District Association as soon as the option is given to them at the AGM. This amount shall not be refunded, if the tournament is not conducted without valid proper reasons.
  5. The Ranking Tournaments shall compulsorily include the following events:

Men’s Singles Women’s Singles
Boys Junior Singles (U-19) Girls Junior Singles (U-19)
Boys Junior Singles (U-17) Girls Junior Singles (U-17)
Boys Sub Junior Singles (U-15) Girls Sub Junior Singles (U-19)
Boys Cadet Singles (U-13) Girls Cadet Singles (U-13)
Boys Hopes Singles (U-11) Girls Hopes Singles (U-11)
  1. The Jr. Boys and Girls (U-19) events shall be open only to those players who are born on or after 1st January, 2005.
  2. The Jr. Boys and Girls (U-17) events shall be open only to those players who are born on or after 1st January, 2007.
  3. The Sub Jr. Boys and Girls (U-15) events shall be open only to those players who are born on or after 1st January, 2009.
  4. The Cadet Boys and Girls (U-13) events shall be open only to those players who are born on or after 1st January, 2011.
  5. The Hopes Boys and Girls (U-11) events shall be open only to those players who are born on or after 1st January, 2013.

The Hopes event shall be conducted irrespective of the number of entries received. However, in the remaining compulsory events, the minimum number of entries shall be eight.

  • The following events may be included at the discretion of the host Units/Club:
  1. Junior Boy’s (U-19) Doubles,
  2. Mixed Doubles (Seniors),
  3. Women’s Doubles,
  4. Men’s Doubles.

6.  The method of play shall be as stipulated in the Ranking and Seeding Rules.

7. The Seedings shall be made according to the rules laid down by the TTAA. The Chief Referee or the Tournament Committee shall follow the Ranking/Seeding – it will be issued by the TTAA before each tournament. If in any case any of the “Seed” is not participating, the next “Seed” in line will be elevated.

8. Merit Certificates and Cash Prizes to the winners as per TTAA Criteria will be presented by the Host Unit/Club.

9. Prospectus and entry forms for Ranking Tournaments shall be sent by TTAA to all the Clubs, Units, Institutions at least 15 days prior to the commencement of the championship.

10. (i) Prospectus should inter-alia mention:

  1. The Tournament is conducted “Under the aegis of TTAA and under the rules and regulations laid down by the GSTTA.”
  2. Dates and Venue of the Tournament.
  3. Last date of entries.
  4. Events to be played, alongwith the entry fees.

(ii) The Concerned Chief Referee and host shall send to the District Association the following details within 7 days of the conclusion of the tournament.

  1. Certified copies of the Draw for all events.
  2. Detailed results of all events with scores.
  3. One to Eight positions of all events.
  4. Any other information which in the opinion of the host Unit/Chief Referee should be brought to the TTAA notice including details of instance of indiscipline of player and misconduct and performance of umpires etc.

(iii) The Chief Referee and Deputy Chief Referee for all the Tournaments shall be nominated by the TTAA. The TTAA shall also nominate a member of the Technical Committee to attend the tournament to guide the organizers and the Chief Referee and the Technical delegate to take decision on behalf of the TTAA.

(iv) The Chief Referee/Technical delegate will conduct the Draw for the tournament, in consultation with TTAA.

  1. All Umpiring will be in English.
  2. ITTF approved balls and TTFI/ITTF approved tables will be used for the Tournament.
  3. In addition to the above, for ranking tournaments, all entries will be received through AFFILIATED UNITS/PLAYERS/PARENTS ONLY. No group entries sent by private coaches/academies will be entertained.
  4. On all matters pertaining to the tournaments not covered under the above rules, the decision of the executive committee of the TTAA shall be final and binding.
