REGULATIONS FOR RANKING & SEEDING RULES – 2023

  1. The Annual Ranking of players shall be issued after the conclusion of the tournament program for the year.
  2. Ranking list will be based on Total Points gained by a player during the year under the norms prescribed below:

The Total Point of a player at the District Championship and all District Ranking Tournaments will be considered for ranking.

If by any chance, the requisite number of tournaments are not completed, the nearest of the above shall be followed.

  1. In the District tournaments the following method of play will be adapted.

The method of play:

3.1 All the Singles (Individual Event) for Men’s, Women’s, Jr. Boys & Girls (U-19) & (U-17), Sub Jr. Boys & Girls (U-15), Cadet Boys & Girls  (U-13) and Hopes Boys & Girls (U-11) matches will be played on knock-out basis throughout.

3.2 No Position matches will be conducted.

3.3 The Winner will occupy First position and the Runner-up Second Position.

  1. MATCHES

In all the Ranking Tournaments, Competition will be played as follows:

  • Hopes event will be played best of 5 Games throughout the Finals.
  • Cadet event will be played best of 5 games upto Finals and Finals will be played Best of 7 Games.
  • Sub-Jr. event will be played best of 5 games upto Semifinals and from Semifinals it will be played Best of 7 Games.
  • Junior & Senior events will be played best of 5 games upto Quarterfinals and from Quarterfinals it will be Best of 7 Games.
  1. SYSTEM FOR AWARDING POINTS FOR RANKING

For Men, Women, Youth Boys & Girls, Junior Boys & Girls, Sub-Jr. Boys & Girls, Cadet Boys & Girls events of Ranking Tournaments the points will be awarded as per the following table:

NOTE: No positional matches will be played.

  1. PENALTY

Any player who after reaching a particular position among the last 8 in any Tournament of the District gives a walk-over without satisfactory and valid reasons shall be automatically placed in the 8th position in the final placement of that particular event apart from any other penalty that may be imposed by the Ranking Committee.

6.1 Any ranked player, who after given his entry for any “Ranking” event does not turn up for the matches or refuses to play shall be penalized to the extent of as a deduction of 10 points from the total number of points earned by him while arriving at the aggregate number of points for ranking.

6.2 A player may, however, withdraw his entry in writing before the commencement of the draw in which case the penalty clauses shall not be applicable. “Withdrawal” shall mean the intimation actually received at the venue of the tournament before the commencement of the draw.

7. The total number of points gained by a player in the District Championship and ‘ANY ONE’ of the Best performance in Ranking Tournaments shall determine the ranking of a player during the year. This is subject to deduction of any penalty imposed.

7.1 In case of equal number of points being gained by more than one player, such player may be jointly ranked. The order of procedure among the jointly ranked players will be basis on the following criteria:

  1. Total Points gained at the end of year in the State Ranking Tournaments,
  2. Performance at the National Level,
  3. Head to Head at the District Ranking Tournaments, if any.
  1. SEEDINGS:

The seedings for the first Ranking Tournament of the season will be based on the “Ranking” announced in the preceding year. Thereafter, the seedings will be given on the basis of total points earned from the total tournaments played for that year. Seedings for each tournament will be issued by TTAA prior to the event.

8.1 Seedings by Ranking will be in accordance with the regulations of the GSTTA as under:

The first ranked player shall be placed on the Top place of the first half and the second ranked player shall be in the bottom of the second half. Lot shall draw the next two ranked players into the bottom place of the first half and the top place in the second half. The next 4 ranked players (5 to 8) shall be drawn by lot in the bottom place of first and third quarters and top places of the second and fourth quarters. The next 8 ranked players (9 to 16) shall be drawn by lots into 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th places.

8.2 Thereafter the draw shall be conducted on the basis of entries received.

8.3 The regulations for alterations to the draw will be according to the TTAA regulations as adopted by the GSTTA.

  1. SELECTION OF TEAMS

9.1 The current performance of a player in all District Ranking Tournament as well as his/her performance in any other Invitation Tournaments or such equivalent tournaments during the year will be considered. In addition, “Ranking” and “Age” of particular player shall also be one of the criteria for selection of players for the District Team.

9.2 Indiscipline of a particular player shall also be taken into non-consideration of a player in the District Team.

  1. These regulations shall be read in conjunction with the rules for the Ranking Tournaments.
  2. Regulations not covered above, the decision of the Executive Committee of the TTAA shall be final and binding on to the all players.
  3. Change of district by players:

If a player wants to play for a different District, he/she shall apply to TTAA before 1st April of every year, and he/she should be registered at least 3 months before his first assignment for the new District.
