With eyes on Gandhidham, Amadavadi paddlers assemble at Gulmohar

INTRO: Gulmohar Greens to host prestigious 3rd Ahmedabad District Table Tennis Championship

Ahmedabad paddlers will take their positions across the table in the 3rd Ahmedabad District Table Tennis Championship – 2019 that gets underway at Gulmohar Greens on Saturday. However, for all the paddlers, the eyes will be on upcoming prestigious Gujarat State and Inter-District Championship 2019 scheduled in Gandhidham early next month.

Paddlers, who are standing on the fringe in the State Rankings, would be looking to get warmed up for the prestigious event at Gandhidham slated October 2-7. Depending on the performance, teams will be selected for the Team championships in Gandhidham.

In the Men’s section Akshit Savla won the first edition at Club O7 but it was Dhairya Parmar who bagged the title at St Xavier’s Loyola Hall last month. The last bout is going to be pulsating as paddlers will earn double points in the District Championship. Abhilash Raval is also breathing on the neck of Dhairya and Akshit. The Men’s section promises to provide mouth-watering event. Dhairya and Akshit need to prove their credentials if they aspire to lead Ahmedabad Men’s team in Gandhidham.

Women’s section looks pretty one-sided race as in-form Kausha Bhairapure can make yet another clean sweep. After an average State Ranking Tournament in Anand week ago, nothing less than all the three titles – Woman, Youth and Junior – shall satisfy Kausha in the District championship. Anoushka Chatterjee, if leaves up to her potential, can produce an upset or two.

Interestingly, the only girls’ section that promises to provide all-round entertainment is the Cadet. With hyper-active paddlers like Hiya Singh and Mouboni Chatterjee in fray, who have shown their talent in the State Ranking Tournaments, the contest is certainly going to be breath-stopping.
